It Is Finished

A long time ago a man born of a young woman (who was a virgin) was here on this Earth to show us the way of the Lord.

"He came from Heaven to Earth to show the way" - Lord I Lift Your Name On High

John 14:6 (NIV)
Jesus answered " I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except by me."

On this Good Friday let us go back into time and look at the journey of Jesus and this day is the day that He went on trial because the church leaders felt threatened. The mob turned on Him and yelled crucify him and beg for another prisoner to be released. They beat Him and made Him carry His cross to Calavery. They nailed his hands and feet to the cross. Places on His head a crown of thorns. They scourned Him. If you have ever watched the Passion of the Christ you can see the angwish upon Jesus faces, this movie depicts this story better than any other movie out there but it still does not hold a candle to the actual events that took place those many years ago on this day.

"From the Earth to the cross my debt to pay"- Lord I Lift Your Name On High

John 19:16-18 (NIV)
16Finally Pilate handed him over to them to be crucified.
The Crucifixion
So the soldiers took charge of Jesus. 17Carrying his own cross, he went out to the place of the Skull (which in Aramaic is called Golgotha). 18Here they crucified him, and with him two others—one on each side and Jesus in the middle.

Jesus died on the cross to save us from our sins. What a wonderful gift from God to give up His one and only Son to save us from our wrongs. Glory to God in the highest. He has shown us mercy and brought us out of the depths of sin so that we might one day join Him in Heaven. Oh whay joy that day will be when we are home with our Lord rejoiceing with the angles.

"From the cross to the grave, from the grave to the sky Lord I lift you name on high" - Lord I Lift Your Name On High

John 19:29-31 (NIV)
29A jar of wine vinegar was there, so they soaked a sponge in it, put the sponge on a stalk of the hyssop plant, and lifted it to Jesus' lips. 30When he had received the drink, Jesus said, "It is finished." With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.

31Now it was the day of Preparation, and the next day was to be a special Sabbath. Because the Jews did not want the bodies left on the crosses during the Sabbath, they asked Pilate to have the legs broken and the bodies taken down.

Today let us remember what God has given us.

Praise Him today and everyday.
